Table Runners for Valentine's Day

I've decided to embrace the fun of Valentine's Day this year and made several table runners for the occasion. One design is a Quilted Table Runner, and the others are Wonky Stripes Table Runners.

When I saw this fabric full of hearts by Premier Prints in the window of local fabric shop Drygoods Design, I knew I had to make something with it! It's a perfect mix of modern, clean and kitschy. Quilted with widely spaced straight lines, and edged with a natural linen binding, it makes a fun and bold table runner that is sure to brighten your Valentine's Day!

My Wonky Stripe design continues to be a favorite, so I made several versions. One is very Valentine-y with the pink and the red Pearl Bracelet design by Lizzy House. The others are more versatile -- one features all red panels of Pearl Bracelet and the other showcases the gorgeous painterly Poppy print by Karen Tusinsky. Each of these textured and striking table runners would make a colorful centerpiece. They are layered with soft flannel and lined with a crisp white cotton.

Priced at $42, you can find these various table runners in my shop under the "Table Runners" section. Oh and don't forget this little piece of burlap art called Lovey Dovey. Created from an upcycled piece of stamped coffee sack and some fabric and felt designs, it would make the perfect gift for your Valentine!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I Love These Fabric Buckets

I have made fabric baskets as gifts and for my own home in the past. We use them in various rooms -- the kitchen for kids' sippy cups and napkins, the bedroom for lotions and trinkets, the boys' room for toys. I had wanted to make fabric baskets for my shop for a while. When I saw the brand new Stamped fabric collection by Ellen Luckett Baker, I knew I had found the perfect material.

This fabric is a cotton/linen mix, slightly thicker than regular cotton fabric and wonderfully textured. The designs are bold, colorful and just rough enough to be whimsical and interesting. I knew they would pair extremely well with the natural linen I love to use in my projects and create statement pieces.

My fabric buckets have been extremely popular, I nearly sold out of what I'd made at the craft fair in December! I have tried to make more to keep up with demand and several are listed in my shop now. They are roughly 8 inches in diameter and height. Perfect size for a catch-all container!

Ellen Luckett Baker, the designer of the wonderful Stamped collection, actually included one of my buckets in one of her renowned Etsy Finds Friday posts. It is always thrilling to see my projects on her website!

These fabric buckets are priced $30. Check my shop for what's in stock. I have several additional buckets cut up and ready to be sewn as soon as I have a chance. So check back soon for new colors and prints! Of course, I'm happy to make custom baskets, just email me with the size and style you're looking for and we'll make it happen!

Custom Gifts!

A couple of months ago, my friend Marta commissioned me to make a baby gift and a series of teacher gifts.

For the baby gift, she wanted a set of modern and boy-friendly burp cloths. These are simply cotton diapers embellished with a large strip of quilting cotton. Marta and I picked a set of 6 coordinating prints.

For the teacher gifts, we settled on simple mug rugs -- thick and large coasters for a steaming mug of coffee or tea. Marta packaged these with a special mug and a wintery beverage selection for each teacher. Here again, we worked together to select a variety of fabrics that would suit the men and women among her children's teachers. I then created the mug rugs with my half-triangle design featuring natural linen.

New Tablet Covers

I was quite productive in the weeks leading to the holiday season and tried to fill my shop with good gift items. One such category was tablet covers. These provide a cozy and stylish protection for your iPad, iPad Mini, Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HD, etc.

My e-reader covers were pretty popular last year, I got a lot of custom orders for those. I made similar designs this year, and introduced a new one with a triangle patch of natural linen on the front -- love those!

Here are some photos. There are some ready-to-ship tablet covers still left in my shop (check sizes before purchasing!), and I am happy to make a custom cover for your tablet, just email me. I can put in elastic or fabric corners, add pockets on the inside -- or not, you decide!

Coasters!

One of the best-selling items in my shop, believe it or not, is my coasters. Made with contrasting triangles of natural linen and a bold cotton print, they are an affordable and versatile gift for housewarming parties, hostess gifts, to include in a food basket, etc. They come in sets of 4 and are priced $20.

I made a gazillion coasters in the months leading up to the holidays. Many sold, but there are still a lot in my shop here. I am happy to make custom sets of coasters too, just shoot me an email.

Trees and Birds -- Latest Artwork

A couple of months ago, I completed several pieces of burlap art for various purposes. Here they are with some details...

For a fundraising auction at a friend's preschool, I created this modern bird and tree piece. I love how bold and clean it feels. This was a new tree design for me, with the intertwining branches, and I love how it turned out!

The lovely Alli requested a custom piece for a friend who was celebrating the end of a rough year. We chose a design similar to that wonderful cherry tree in bloom piece that I love so much, but changed the season and the feel of it by going with autumn colors and a darker bird. The emotions it evokes are quite different, I think. I was really happy with this one as well. Felt and embroidery never fail to add such texture!

In preparation for the craft fair, I created several pieces that had been on my mind for a while. Nothing like a deadline to get things out of my head and into the world.

This little duo sold very quickly...

... but the following two pieces are still listed in my shop on Etsy. Click on the photo to go to the listing. They are called "Autumn Flight" and "Winter Day".

I love creating custom artwork, please never hesitate to contact me if you have something in mind! Chances are, we can make it happen! You can reach me at jennybartoy AT gmail DOT com.

I have some new pieces in the works, and when I mean new, I mean a new style... I hope my vision turns out... We'll see. Stay tuned!
