Mug Rugs

Happy Wednesday!

** Reminder ** Tomorrow, Thursday November 15, is the LAST DAY to place custom orders for holiday gifts. Please let me know if I can make something special for your friends and loved ones. You can email me at jennybartoy AT gmail DOT com.

I recently made some fun little stocking stuffers: Mug Rugs! A mug rug is a special coaster, a little large and a little cushy, for your favorite mug. These are made with a modern patchwork of grey, white and natural linen. You can find them in my shop on Etsy in the Coasters & Mug Rugs section.

New Table Runners!

Hello there!

I forgot to share a while ago that I listed a bunch of new table runners in my shop. These feature a new design: bold, modern fabric quilted with a large zigzag and bound with earthy natural linen. I love the simplicity of this design, yet it packs a striking punch. It's all about the fabric -- and these are made with some of my favorite recent prints by designers like Lotta Jansdotter.

Here are some pictures. You can see more by visiting the Table Runners section of my shop on Etsy!

I will continue to make Wonky Stripes Table Runners as well, since I love that design and it's been quite popular. Keep your eyes open for a couple of Christmas-themed runners coming soon! And of course, let me know if I can ever make a custom table runner for you. (I am accepting custom orders for holiday gifts until November 15.)

We're well into November already and the holidays are upon us!! Here are a few announcements and important dates:

- I will accept holiday custom orders until November 15. If you have something in mind that you'd like me to make for Christmas, please contact me as soon as possible at jennybartoy AT gmail DOT com.

- I am working very hard to stock up my shop in time for Black Friday, which is coming early this year: November 23! Please visit me on Etsy for great gifts like coasters and mug rugs, pillow covers, table runners, tablet covers, artwork and more! I'm so excited to share everything I've had in the works... Soon!

- I just signed up for my first art sale ever! It will be December 8 in the Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle, WA. It sounds like I will be in great company. The line-up of artists and crafters is wonderful and there should be fabulous gifts to browse and purchase. Saturday, Dec. 8th 12:30-6:30 at Red Square Yoga Studio, 1911 10th Avenue West, Seattle WA 98119

- I will be shipping items from my shop until Wednesday December 19, after which point I will take a break to spend time with my family and enjoy the holidays! All purchased items after December 19 will have to wait until the New Year to ship.

Thank you so much for your support of my little business!! Please let me know at any time if you have any questions or if I can create something special for you.

Branching Out With Burlap Art

In the last few months, I had a chance to create two different piece of custom burlap artwork which stretched my skills and creative vision.

The first piece was commissioned by my friend Deia for her sister-in-law who had recently graduated with a Doctorate in Audiology and would work with children's speech. The theme of the piece was "Listening to Whispers".

The second piece was commissioned by my husband! He recently transitioned to a new job and wanted to give his awesome boss a thank you gift before leaving the team. This boss is none other than the lovely Alli who has purchased many of my pieces.

I wanted to do something a little different, that would represent "Gratitude". Nothing says "Thanks!" like a pretty bouquet of flowers, so I followed that theme and found the basic design for the pretty flowers on iStockPhoto. I embroidered the logo of the organization for which Alli and my husband work into the central leaf. I also found a piece of upcycled burlap with the date 2009 -- the year my husband started working with Alli -- so that is the backdrop for the piece.

(Pics taken at night, sorry!)

I am pleased with how these two pieces came out. It's definitely fun to try new techniques and styles! Let me know if you ever have an idea for a custom piece, I'd love to discuss it with you.
